The objectives of this project are: to propose the best treatment option for coronary artery disease patients, to propose the best peri-operative pharmacological management for coronary artery disease patients, and to develop an intelligent Peri-Operative Decision Support System (iPoDSS) by incorporating the proposed methods.
Project Summary
In the case of coronary artery diseases (CAD) there are large volume of information that has to be considered in deciding the best treatment option (after considering potential risks) for a patient. Importantly, such treatment needs to be individually tailored and is significantly correlated to particular conditions of individual patient. Currently, data mining is well suited to provide decision support in health care. Data mining, which will be used
in iPoDSS could assist doctors in deciding for coronary bypass with the level of risks involved. Alternatively, the system will determine a suitable treatment for patients who are not amendable for surgery, as well as determining the most suitable medication needed.
